Privacy policy
Effective 26 October 2026
Neat Nest: JSON & Text Editor is an Android app made by Marko Zanoski. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: the app sends nothing anywhere. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no server of ours, and the app does not use the internet at all.
What stays on your phone
- The files you open. Neat Nest reads a file only when you open it, share it to the app or pick it in Android's file picker. Android gives the app access to that one file. When you save, the app writes back to that file, or to the place you pick with Save as.
- Your open documents. While a document is open, its text is kept in the app's own storage as you type, so switching apps or restarting the phone never loses an edit. Closing the document deletes that copy.
- Recent files. The names of files you opened and Android's address for them, so you can open them again from the home screen or the widget.
- Your settings. Theme, text size, indent and the other choices in Settings.
None of this leaves your phone. Neat Nest is left out of Android's cloud backup on purpose, because files you open can hold private data.
What leaves your phone
Nothing is sent by the app. It does not ask for internet access, so it cannot send anything anywhere. It works fully offline. Text leaves the app only when you choose Share or Copy, and then it goes where you send it.
Permissions
Neat Nest asks for no permissions at all: no internet, no storage, no location, camera, microphone, contacts or notifications. Files come and go one at a time through Android's own file picker and the Open with, Edit and Share menus.
What we do not do
- No accounts and no sign in.
- No ads and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, crash reporting or tracking libraries.
- No selling or sharing of data, because we do not collect any.
Payments
Neat Nest is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy. We receive no card details and no personal data from that purchase beyond what Google Play shows every developer in aggregate sales reports.
This website
This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no outside fonts or scripts. It is hosted on Vercel, which keeps short server logs to run and protect the service. The user guide and bug report forms are on GitHub, under GitHub's privacy policy; reports you file there are public.
Children
Neat Nest is a general audience tool and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone.
Deleting your data
Everything Neat Nest keeps is on your phone. Close a document to delete its copy, or clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Your own files stay where they are. There is nothing on our side to delete.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
